Keeping the Flame Alive: Leading Successful Semi-structured Short-term Process Groups

This workshop will present structured activities to use in the initial stages and final stages of groups to promote cohesion, skill development, and interpersonal learning. This model is especially relevant to college counseling centers and other settings that emphasize time-limited group psychotherapy.

Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:

1. Identify challenges to leading short-term interpersonal process groups in college counseling centers or other agency settings.

2. Learn structured group activities for the initial and final stages of group to promote cohesion, skill development, and interpersonal learning.

3. Learn strategies for transitioning from facilitator-led activities to a more member-driven group process during the middle phases of group.
