Mindfulness in a Changing World: Group Experiences in the Present

Group
therapists frequently encounter members in need of effective
strategies to manage stress and reduce emotional reactivity.
Mindfulness meditation is time-tested and evidence-based. This
workshop will introduce participants to applications of mindfulness
in group therapy starting with empirically validated, experiential,
structured therapies including: mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR),
mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), and dialectical behavior
therapy (DBT).

Objectives:
The attendee will
be able to:
1. Implement a
self-practice of mindfulness meditation and utilize mindfulness
within therapeutic groups.
2. Design an
effective dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills training
curriculum incorporating various mindfulness exercises.
3. Execute an
effective time-limited series of groups based on principles of
mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) and mindfulness-based
stress reduction (MBSR).
