Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:

1. Have a fuller understanding of what metaphors are, how they shape therapeutic discourse, and their application to groups.
2. Attend to the metaphors used by group members, and how this can be used to develop a working hypothesis about group functioning.
3. Differentiate a variety of love stories used by group members, how these love stories can be used defensively and/or creatively, and how metaphor and desire are related.
