Bisexual Identity Development in Group

 

Presented under the auspices of the AGPA SIG on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Issues

After defining bisexuality, the presenters will use the Greek myth of Procrustes as a metaphor to elucidate challenges to healthy bisexual identity development. A demonstration group will illustrate the benefits of group in assisting with such challenges, and will springboard discussion of potential counter-transference issues.

The attendee will be able to:

1. Define bisexuality and healthy bisexual identity.
2. Explain challenges to healthy bisexual identity development.
3. Identify ways in which group may help with healthy bisexual identity development.
4. Identify potential counter-transference issues associated with bisexuality in group.
