The
Community as the Group

Group
psychotherapists have a unique expertise that can support community
organizing and development. Generation Two is a civic engagement
initiative that recruits older adults and college students to reach
out to children and their community. The G2 model will be the
foundation for translating group psychotherapy principles and
dynamics into community initiatives.

Learning
Objectives:
The attendee will
be able to:
1. Demonstrate an
understanding of the group psychotherapy principles that readily
translate into community development strategies.
2. Identify
community need that requires civic engagement.
3. Practice the
leadership skills that facilitate relationship building and
cooperation among different community interest groups.
4. Define and
evaluate the evidence that the community initiative is promoting
policies and experiences that support community development.
